Card reissue, replacement, and renewal refer to the process of issuing a new card when the existing card is expired, damaged, lost, or stolen.
Card Reissue
A card reissue generates a new card based on defined parameters. Depending on your program setup, you may configure:
- Same or new card number (PAN).
- Same or new expiry date.
- Same or new PIN (same PIN is only applicable if the card number remains unchanged).
Expiry Date Reissue (Updated Process)
When reissuing a card specifically to refresh its validity:
- Only the expiry date and CVV will be updated.
- All other card attributes remain unchanged.
- The new expiry date will be set to five (5) years from the time the API call is made.
Card Replacement
Card replacement typically refers to issuing a new physical plastic card. Depending on configuration, it may involve:
- Same or new card number
- Same or new expiry date
- Same or new PIN
Card Renewal
Card renewal is usually performed when a card is nearing expiry. It may be issued with:
- Same or new card number
- Same or new PIN
For urgent cases (e.g. lost or stolen cards), reissuance can be configured with priority handling (e.g. express processing), subject to your program setup.
